An Eating Disorder Inventory-based typology of outpatient obese individuals.

摘要: The literature regarding the association of personality with obesity has been generally confusing and contradictory very different pictures obese person emerging. An alternative to identifying either types or traits associated condition is construct a typology individuals. Rather than seeking “obesity personality”, method utilized in current research sought differentiate population an outpatient weight-control clinic into distinct subgroups. For purposes this study, Eating Disorder Inventory (EDI) was employed as measure personality. typing procedure using eight EDI factor scores yielded four subgroups: normal obese, normal/drive-for-thinness group, normal/perfectionist distressed/bulimic group. Issues treatment format, needs, outcome are discussed.
