摘要: As we talk, unconsciously adjust our speech to ensure it sounds the way intend sound. However, because production involves complex motor planning and execution, no two utterances of same sound will be exactly same. Here, show that auditory cortex is sensitive natural variations in self-produced from utterance utterance. We recorded event-related potentials (ERPs) ninety-nine subjects while they uttered ‘‘ah’’ listened those played back. Subjects’ were sorted based on their formant deviations previous Typically, N1 ERP component suppressed during talking compared listening. By comparing ERPs least most variable utterances, found was less differed greatly preceding neighbors. In contrast, an utterance’s difference median values did not affect N1. Trial-to-trial pitch (f0) deviation similarly discuss mechanisms may underlie change suppression resulting trial-to-trial change. Deviant require additional cortical processing, suggesting speaking-induced are optimally tuned for a specific production.
