摘要: The use of electrokinetic (EK) treatment which is a comparatively new methodology being investigated in some parts the world as viable situ soil remediation and method. principles EK method involve applying low direct current or potential gradient to electrodes inserted permeable soils that cannot readily drained. transportation charged species across involves several complex mechanisms such electrolysis, electro-osmosis, electro-migration electrophoresis. This technique can also be applied/enhanced by introducing desirable non-toxic chemical compounds lime cement solutions them at appropriate electrode. combined effect these processes together with various geochemical reactions alters composition porous medium thereby physicochemical properties soil. Although technology has been approved practical many laboratory bench scale experiments small-scale pilot field tests, complicated features electrochemical contaminant interactions are still not fully understood, therefore there need for further research conducted better understanding changes problematic efficiency this newly developed technology.
