摘要: The most common form of sensory disability is age-related hearing loss (ARHL), also referred to as presbycusis. ARHL a complex disorder with mixture genetic and environmental components, combination that leads progressive decline in function increased age. In the last 15 years, there has been vast increase our knowledge genes underlie congenital deafness critical components hearing. contrast, pathological processes involved remains very limited. mouse proved an essential tool identification early-onset revealing basic mechanisms As focus now turning toward elucidating loss, ARHL, will again play fundamental role this research. Here, we review need for animal model discuss suitability model. Finally, outline ways which researchers are utilising investigation provide perspectives on these data be integrated results human studies.
