Studies on Lodging in Rice Plants : I. A general observation on lodged rice culms

摘要: A general observation was conducted on lodged rice culms in cultivars Sasanishiki and Koshihikari grown paddy fields 1986, 1987, 1989. The shape of the cross section internodes observed to be not circular, but elliptical with a major minor axis. Flattening internode calculated based difference between axis higher than unlodged ones lower internodes. Values axis, which reflect width internodes, were culms, also, lengths longer ones. broken found mainly IV IV, V Koshihikari. breaking position restricted portion ranging from 10 30% full length distant node level. This 20% regarded as area internode. direction most cases. These results suggested that lodging occurs limited at specialized direction.
