摘要: An investigation into the physical and chemical characteristics of aluminum tris(8-hydroxyquinoline) (Alq3), a reliable electron-transporting emitting material for low molecular weight based organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), was performed. In presence atmospheric moisture, thermal stability Alq3 studied by monitoring evolution its volatile byproduct, 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-Hq), using thermogravimetric analysis gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy (GC/MS). Sample morphology shown to be an important parameter in Alq3. Annealed (more crystalline) samples exhibited greater hydrolysis than freshly sublimed films, at expense photoluminescence efficiency. The possible implications these phenomena are discussed with respect failure mechanisms Alq3-based OLEDs.
