摘要: A new, 14-panel Advanced Modular Incoherent Scatter Radar (AMISR-14) system was recently deployed at the Jicamarca Radio Observatory. We present results of first coherent backscatter radar observations equatorial spread F(ESF) irregularities made with system. Colocation 50 MHz Unattended Long-term studies Ionosphere and Atmosphere (JULIA) allowed unique simultaneous meter submeter irregularities. Observations from both systems produced similar Range-Time-Intensity maps during bottom-type bottomside ESF events. were also able to use electronic beam steering capability AMISR-14 “image” scattering structures in magnetic plane track their appearance, evolution, decay a much larger field view than previously possible Jicamarca. The suggest zonal variations instability conditions leading demonstrate dynamic behavior F region as they evolve drift across beams.
