One-point fluctuation analysis of the high-energy neutrino sky

摘要: We perform the first one-point fluctuation analysis of high-energy neutrino sky. This method reveals itself to be especially suited contemporary data, as it allows study properties astrophysical components flux detected by IceCube telescope, even with low statistics and in absence point source detection. Besides veto-passing atmospheric foregrounds, we adopt a simple model background assuming two main extra-galactic components: star-forming galaxies blazars. By leveraging multi-wavelength data from Herschel Fermi, predict spectral anisotropic probability distributions for their expected counts IceCube. find that are likely remain diffuse due poor angular resolution IceCube, determine an upper limit on number shower events can reasonably associated also limits contribution blazars measured unfavourably affected skewness blazar distribution. One-point event clustering likelihood analyses HESE suggest this has potential dramatically improve over more conventional model-based analyses, next generation telescopes.
