摘要: The demography and life-history traits of a population the lacertid lizard Podarcis bocagei in north-west Spain were investigated. Most conclusions presented are based on mark‐recapture studies carried out over 2-year period. Reproductive characteristics similar to those reported for other temperateclimate lacertids. Clutch size, egg size hatchling (snout‐vent length, SVL) all positively correlated with mother’s SVL. Only large females lay more than one clutch per year. Growth rate is highest young animals declines gradually age. In both sexes, sexual maturity reached between ages 1 2 years. Again probability survival was fairly constant lifespan. Considering study period as whole, there no significant between-sex difference probability. Among adults, higher winter during periods, but differences not statistically significant. individuals sedentary, making only short movements even when periods up years considered (the mean distance moved marking recapturing 18‐24 months later 15.7 m, maximum 45.6 m). On average, immature move further adult males females. Estimated density (all individuals) dropped from 1574 ha -1 1989/90 1327 1990/91. decline also reflected estimated net replacement (0.85, i.e. considerably less one), probably attributable colonization site by plants (reducing suitability habitat P. ). generation time 2.09
