摘要: It is generally agreed that, at least in mammals, sex chromosomes determine the of individual. For “normal” sexual development, however, more required than mere presence these chromosomes. was recognized early this century—and has been verified many times since—that chemical substances (hormones) gonadal origin influence development central nervous system and anlagen reproductive tract so that they are either masculine or feminine character. The hormones on target tissues covered elsewhere volume. Here, we discuss bring together what known about secreted by gonads during differentiation vertebrates. so-called period vertebrates varies from species to species. In long-gestation such as human beings, rhesus monkeys, guinea pigs, takes place prenatally. with short gestations, rats mice, especially system, continues into neonatal period. some (e.g., primates), critical for hormone action not known. fact, term may be a good one because it too restrictive actions longer duration vary time span different functions.
