摘要: Previously the term zygomycosis was used to refer infections caused by fungi belonging phylum Zygomycota, class Zygomycetes, orders Mucorales and Entomophthorales. However, a more recent classification based on molecular phylogenetic studies of rRNA, tef1, rpb1, has abolished Zygomycetes instead distributes previously in Zygomycota into Glomeromycota four subphyla, including Mucoromycotina, Kickxellomycotina, Zoopagomycotina, Entomophthoromycotina (Table 1) [1]. Therefore, zygomycosis, which been clinicians mycologists for decades, is no longer relevant fungal taxonomy. Both terms, mucormycosis are throughout this book, reflecting changes nomenclature slower evolution clinical parlance.
