Precocene-induced degeneration of the corpus allatum of adult females of the bug Oncopeltus fasciatus

摘要: Abstract Application of precocene II, either topically or by contact method, to newly emerged adult females O. fasciatus inhibits egg maturation and induces degeneration the corpus allatum (CA). Seven days after precocene-treatment CA were very small. Ultrastructural studies revealed a number disintegrating nuclei, degenerating mitochondria, lysosome-like bodies autophagic vacuoles. Fifteen treatment showed further reduction in size cells, degenerative changes much more pronounced. It appears that effect prococene on is irreversible.
