摘要: Scanning‐electron microscopy is used to examine faceting of Pt single crystals induced by catalytic oxidation NH3 and C3H8. By using single‐crystal microspheres Pt, the morphology can be determined as a function crystallographic orientation. Stereographic triangle constructions smooth faceted regions give crystal planes relative areas which should directly applicable reactions on polycrystalline or polyfaceted catalysts. Transmission‐electron morphologies sintering rates crystallites supported graphite, amorphous carbon, SiO2, Al2O3. An environmental stage permits examination in ultra‐high vacuum, known gases up ∠10−2 Torr (1.3 Pa) at temperatures 1000°C. Mechanisms influence crystallite will described discussed.
