摘要: In terms of pathophysiology, an anatomically narrow airway is a predisposing factor for obstruction the upper respiratory tract. The correlation between nasopharyngeal and craniofacial structures discussed in this context. Thus mutual interaction pharynx mandibular position was demonstrated, whereby transverse dimension nasopharynx significantly larger patients with prognathism than retrognathism. influence chronic nasal on development also discussed. form-and-function interaction, which ought to explain causal relationship growth, appears be multifactorial rather one-dimensional, linear nature. It not disputed, however, that expanding maxilla improves only volume flow, but subjective sensation patients, although it possible make prognostic statement about extent improvement because differing reactions individuals. Orthodontic appliances advancing mandible can successfully used treatment mild obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. This method should considered particularly who are unwilling undergo or cannot tolerate CPAP (continuous positive pressure) treatment.
