摘要: Sepsis and septic shock remain a considerable therapeutic challenge. Despite significant advances in supportive care the availability of potent, broad-spectrum antibiotics, overall mortality due to sepsis is still approximately 35%, this increases 60% if patients develop shock. Antibiotics constitute necessary part treatment sepsis, there probably scope improve way which they are used. Nevertheless, antibiotics alone, even used optimally, not sufficient substantially reduce that accompanies multiorgan failure occurs patients. For reason, efforts have been expended developing non-antibiotic (or so-called adjunctive) forms treatment, here general approaches these types reviewed. There three main categories: improvements care, treatments aimed at bacterial virulence factors, host mediators. This intended be comprehensive review, but rather provide examples each category illustrate principles-and hurdles-that characterized therapy.
