摘要: Evidence for age-related changes in spatial memory rodents and humans is presented, along with data that suggest the hippocampal formation necessary normal performance on tasks both species. An examination of electrophysiological characteristics this structure rats suggests occur age hippocampus are selective, but at least two primary types alterations contribute to cognitive impairment seen these animals. These include a deficit ability maintain synaptic enhancement reduction accuracy information processing single neurons.
