摘要: Experimental investigations are made of crossflow instability the three-dimensional boundary layer along a yawed circular cylinder. To explore effect environmental disturbances on transition, comparative experiments performed in high- and low-turbulence wind tunnels. Independent turbulence level, unsteady with definite frequencies instead stationary vortices observed hot-wire surveys unstable flow filed. Detailed measurements aid arrays have confirmed that identical so-called traveling waves predicted by linear stability theory as most disturbances, although some discrepancies still remain between experimental results theoretical predictions.
