摘要: Abstract Most studies on electronic diagnosis of occlusal caries have involved taking site-specific conductance measurements. Airflow around the monitor probe removes superficial moisture and measurement reflects status that part fissure beneath tip. This is an appropriate technique for a clinician to use status, it could be adapted in epidemiological clinical trials. The present work investigated alternative using jelly as contact medium over entire system so might record overall tooth reflecting worst affected site. Readings were taken 96 extracted teeth with dye-coloured acting medium. repeated 32 teeth. Histological validation was carried out by visual examination serial sections through each note deepest lesion. sensitivity specificity readings calculated all lesions dentine only selected resistance cut-off points presented series Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curves. optimum values were, lesions: 61% 86%, 76% respectively. reproducibility acceptable (Kappa lesions= 0.76, lesions=0.55). warrants further study reading may more trial use.
