摘要: The lens of the eye is a transparent tissue composed fiber cells that differentiate from epithelial and degrade all cytoplasmic organelles during terminal differentiation. Autophagy major intracellular degradation system in which proteins are degraded lysosome. Although autophagy constitutively activated has been proposed to be involved organelle degradation, its precise role not well understood. Recent genetic studies mice have demonstrated critically important for quality control but can dispensable degradation. Here, we review recent findings on roles lysosomes lens, discuss their possible involvement development human cataract.
