摘要: Abstract The visible quantum cutting (QC) under the excitation at 215 and 187 nm in a newly discovered BaGdF5:Tb3+ via downconversion mechanism has been observed investigated. We have measured vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) emission spectra proposed possible mechanisms to rationalize QC effect. In process, one short-wavelength UV or VUV photon absorbed by Tb3+ was found split into more than emitted through cross-relaxation subsequent direct energy transfer between and/or Gd3+ ions, depending on wavelength. On basis of calculations from region obtained, we obtained optimal efficiency as high 168% 180% for green-emitting 187 nm, respectively.
