摘要: Summary 1 There is considerable debate about whether tropical forests can be managed for timber production and to conserve biodiversity. Few ‘sustainable forestry’ systems have been evaluated adequately in this respect. Microchiropteran bats may model taxa purpose. They are an important component of mammalian diversity, play key roles forest dynamics indicators disturbance neotropical forests. 2 We investigated the effect Trinidad's periodic block system (PBS) on bat species diversity community organization. PBS a polycyclic selective logging with 30-year harvesting rotation. We captured primary PBS-managed logged 33, 31, 21, 20 10 years previously. 3 Selective did not affect but structure. Frugivorous were significantly more abundant whereas gleaning animalivores forest, suggesting that frugivores benefited adversely affected by logging. 4 The showed evidence recovery. The number years since was positively correlated abundance negatively proportional most common species. Gleaning increased regeneration, became less dominated single generalist frugivore. 5 Synthesis applications. appears compatible conservation diversity.
