摘要: Corrosion inhibitive performance of a newly synthesized imidazole derivative 1-(4-methoxy benzyl)-1H- (MBI) on mild steel in ground water medium was investigated. Gravimetric and electrochemical measurements incorporated with quantum chemical calculation were used to study the corrosion inhibition characteristics MBI medium. The efficiency increased increase inhibitor concentration, while adsorption followed Langmuir isotherm. To clarify for prevention medium, density functional theory also carried out using 6-31 G* basis set. Quantum descriptors such as energy highest occupied molecular orbital, lowest unoccupied potential (Pi), electronegativity (χ), global hardness (η), softness (σ), gap (ΔE), dipole moment (μ) calculated. calculations based results show that new can adsorb surface, which forms barrier against corrosion.
