摘要: This paper examines a question of long standing: How can one obtain operational indexes inventive and innovative activity technical change? Specifically, for sample fifty-seven pharmaceutical manufacturing firms, we attempt to determine how well simple count invention patents serves as surrogate two alternative measures change: the number research development personnel employed, reflecting inputs into process, value new product sales, which reflects outputs process.
