摘要: Interest in natural gas hydrates has been steadily increasing over the last few decades, with understanding that exploitation of this abundant unconventional source may help meet ever-increasing energy demand and assist reduction CO2 emission (by replacing coal). Unfortunately, conventional technologies for oil are not fully appropriate specific hydrate. Consequently, technology chain, from exploration through production to monitoring, needs be further developed adapted properties conditions associated hydrates, order allow a commercially environmentally sound extraction hydrate deposits. Various academic groups companies within European region have heavily involved theoretical applied research more than decade. To demonstrate this, Fig. 1.1 shows selection leading institutes actively research. A significant number these strongly recent worldwide hydrate, which shown 1.2 summarized Table 1.1. Despite state knowledge, no field trials carried out so far waters. MIGRATE (COST action ES1405) aims pool together expertise large industrial players advance gas-hydrate related activity ultimate goal preparing setting test waters. This MIGRATE report presents an overview current (Chapter 2), 3) monitoring 4), emphasis on activity. This requires covering various activities different disciplines, all contribute development needed future cost-effective production. The points work areas 5) would bridge existing knowledge gaps, multinational collaboration interdisciplinary approaches.
