Host-Virus Interaction in Visna Infected Sheep

摘要: Twenty-four sheep infected intracerebrally with 3 × 105 TCID50 of visna virus have been observed over a period 4 years in order to study some aspects the host-virus interaction this slow infection. All responded neutralizing antibodies but viral activity was not inhibited. Viremia demonstrated from 2 months after inoculation samples whole blood antibody titers 1:128 1:512 serum. Visna grown cerebrospinal fluid during and both normal elevated cell counts. Twelve 24 died paralytic at different times inoculation. Eight 15 clinical cases began 30 43 injection, 5 about year, within first 6 injection. They all had typical lesions central nervous system. choroid plexus, spleen, salivary gland lungs most kidney three cases. Three remaining 12 now show signs 9 are good condition. The possibility that antigen-antibody reaction on surface glial cells plays role demyelinating process is discussed.
