摘要: BACKGROUND Infant birthweight is an important public health indicator that a proxy of maternal and baby's health. Earthquakes can cause acute distress, but also contribute to chronic stress through long-term disruptions social, economic domestic circumstances. The aims this study were examine the direct effect earthquake experiences on infants women who experienced 2015 Nepal during pregnancy whether mental mediated relationship. METHODS This prospective, population-based cohort study. Pregnant in Bhaktapur District, had earthquakes after conception recruited. Baseline data collected structured individual interviews. Follow up was short telephone interview two weeks birth. recorded hospital-issued birth certificate. indirect via antenatal common disorders (CMDs) tested using Sobel tests simultaneously. RESULTS In total 497/498 contributed baseline 469 (94.4%) provided weight their infants. 6% low (< 2.5 kg). did not have significant (p = 0.116). However, infant CMDs. When 15 covariates controlled, moderate severe increase 1.58 scores CMD symptoms resulted babies being 20.50 g lighter than those (p = 0.026).
