摘要: Abstract Purpose: In the presence of carotid occlusion, external artery (ECA) becomes an important source cerebral blood flow, especially if circle Willis is incomplete. The contribution ECA to hemispheric flow in patients with severe ipsilateral stenosis has never been previously investigated. Methods: One hundred eight were monitored during sequential cross-clamping and then internal (ICA) endarterectomy using transcranial Doppler sonography (TCD) (Neuroguard CDS, Los Angeles, Calif), measure middle velocity, near-infrared spectroscopy, regional oxygen saturation (CsO 2 ) (Invos 3100A; Somanetics, Troy, Mich). Results: On cross-clamp, median fall CsO was 3% (interquartile range, 1%-4%; P TCD on clamping, although less strong than that statistically significant r = 0.32; =.01; Spearman rank correlation). Conclusions: falls a similar order magnitude must therefore reflect perfusion. contributes significantly intracranial stenosis. (J Vasc Surg 2000;31:989-93.)
