摘要: The diet and feeding behavior of the Reddish-bellied Parakeet (Pyrrhura frontalis) was studied in Campos do Jordao State Park, Sao Paulo, Brazil. parakeets used 21 different species plants their diet. largest number bouts recorded on grass Rhynchelitrum roseum (Gramineae) (21.88%), tree Podocarpus lambertii (Podocarpaceae) (19.7%). seeds were most explored food item (51.47%), followed by leaves (25%). high intake not previously for any Neotropical psitacids. Mean flock sizes did vary significantly throughout year, but maximum size smaller dry months breeding season. time birds spent a site corre- lated when (open areas), trees. Because open areas provide as much protection trees, small flocks would never remain long site. A sentinel system observed fed areas. Accepted 18 September 2000.
