摘要: Background Atopic dermatitis (AD) has been divided into the "extrinsic" and "intrinsic" type, in which "intrinsic AD" is characterized by absence of allergen-specific IgE. Still, there no consensus whether this type" AD, we denominate as atopiform (AFD), a distinct entity. Objective A case-control study was performed to compare clinical diagnostic features AD AFD. Methods Patients with diagnosis were selected. Cases did not have demonstrable Matched control subjects tested positive for evaluated medical history, quality life, disease severity, Hanifin Rajka, U.K. Millennium criteria. Results Eight percent (n = 34) selected patients had, fact, Female predominance, atopic diseases, later onset disease, milder severity observed history atopy, recurrent conjunctivitis, palmar hyperlinearity, keratosis pilaris, pityriasis alba, hand and/or food eczema significantly less present Dennie-Morgan fold positively associated Limitations Not all negative IgE participated relatively small number AFD studied. Conclusions In addition IgE, our findings support that an entity from AD. With distinction shown between patient groups will be better defined more homogeneous. Implications importance preventive therapeutic advice; processes; future research.
