摘要: Synthetic hectorite clay minerals were hydrothermally crystallized with direct incorporation of a series five water-soluble polyvinyl alcohols (PVA) molecular weights from 9000-146,000. The weight PVA had little effect on the success hydrothermal synthesis, d-spacing or amount polymer incorporated. basal spacings range 19.5 A to 20.8 and incorporated ranges 20 wt.% 23 wt.%. Incorporation within inter-layers, along Li(I) ions compensate lattice charge, is indicated. Thermal gravimetric analysis small angle neutron scattering used further examine polymer-clay systems. Small PVA-clay crystallites that are coated excess Removal does not alter extended synthetic network, nitrogen BET surface area increases 200 m2/g.
