摘要: Natural selection can play an important role in the maintenance of genetic polymorphisms, despite ongoing gene flow. In present study, we use previously analysed allozymic loci and perform FST outlier-based analysis to detect signatures divergent between sympatric ecotypes marine snail Littorina saxatilis at different localities. The results obtained show that allozyme polymorphisms are affected (directly or indirectly) by distinct geographical regions. Phosmogluco mutase-2 locus was best candidate for adaptation further biochemical analyses were performed. kinetic properties three more common genotypes Pgm-2 studied. concordant with two alternative hypotheses: (1) natural is acting directly on this or, probably, (2) affecting a genomic region tightly linked enzyme locus. both cases, known existence parallel partially independent origin these would explain why detected localities. © 2009 Linnean Society London, Biological Journal Society, 2009, 98, 225–233.
