摘要: Executive functioning impairment is common in substance use disorder and a major risk factor for poor treatment outcomes, including drop-out relapse. Cognitive remediation interventions seek to improve executive offer promising approach increase the efficacy of alcohol other drug (AOD) treatments long-term therapeutic outcomes. This protocol describes study funded by NSW Agency Clinical Innovation that assesses effectiveness delivering six-week group-based intervention cognitive an ecologically valid sample people attending residential AOD services. We primarily aim investigate whether will be effective improving retention rates. also evaluate if may reduce rates health service utilisation, as well personal goal attainment, quality life, client satisfaction with treatment. In addition, involve economic analysis cost remediation. The uses stepped wedge cluster randomised design, where randomisation occur at level. Participants recruited from ten services provided non-government sector. delivered 12 one-hour sessions over period six weeks. All participants who are expected receive duration asked participate study. clusters randomly assigned condition complete addition usual (TAU). Primary secondary outcome assessments conducted pre-cognitive remediation/TAU phase, post-cognitive two-month follow-up, four-month six-month eight-month follow-up intervals. provide comprehensive data on effect within If shown effective, incorporated adjunctive current programs.
