摘要: Sodium/proton exchangers (NHE) are transmembrane proteins that facilitate the exchange of a Na+ ion for H+ across cellular membranes. The NHE present in gills fishes and believed to function acid-base regulation by driving extrusion protons branchial epithelium water. In this study, we have used reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) detect presence Atlantic hagfish, Myxine glutinosa. subsequent partial cDNA sequence shares homology with other vertebrate invertebrate isoforms. addition, using semi-quantitative, multiplex RT-PCR demonstrate mRNA expression hagfish gill is upregulated following an induced metabolic acidosis. Expression was increased 4.4 times basal levels at 2-h post-infusion had decreased 1.6 6 h. returned 24-h post-infusion. inference from study which potentially important has been lineage since before divergence hagfishes main line.
