摘要: It is believed that transporters and cotransporters rely on a cycle of conformational changes in which the ligand-binding site together with cotransported ion(s) alternately switch between two sides membrane. This process schematized either as large-scale protein exposing ligands to one side or other, binding regions flanked by more subtle gates open close alternately, but never simultaneously. chapter examines theoretical foundations these alternating access models offers another mechanism cotransport uses frictional forces generated downhill movement transported ions generate uphill movements driven ligand uncoupled slippage flows via same route within transporter account for currents flux data are inexplicable models.
