摘要: Environmental contamination of drinking water with chromium (Cr) has been increasing in more than 30 cities the United States. Previous studies from our group have shown that Cr affects reproductive functions female Sprague Dawley rats. Although it is impossible to completely remove water, imperative develop effective intervention strategies inhibit Cr-induced deleterious health effects. Edaravone (EDA), a potential inhibitor free radicals, clinically used treat cancer and cardiac ischemia. This study evaluated efficacy EDA against ovarian toxicity. Results showed maternal exposure CrVI rats increased follicular atresia, decreased steroidogenesis, delayed puberty F1 offspring. oxidative stress antioxidant (AOX) enzyme levels ovary. follicle atresia by expression cleaved caspase 3, Bcl2 Bcl2l1 mitigated or inhibited effects on pubertal onset, steroid hormone levels, AOX activity, as well In second study, treatment was withdrawn, were injected estradiol (E2) (10 μg PBS/ethanol per 100 g body weight) for period 2 wk evaluate whether E2 will restore depletion enzymes. restored CrVI-induced glutathione peroxidase 1, catalase, thioredoxin 2, peroxiredoxin 3 first demonstrate protective any toxicant
