摘要: The objective of this study was to analyze the possible correlation between Shamblin's classification and post-surgical morbidity in treatment carotid body tumors (CBTs). Seventy-two patients with were seen over a 22-year period. Twenty-three excluded as they did not comply criteria objectives. All grouped according classification. We propose modification make comparison by analyzing surgical time bleeding, well neurological vascular damage. resected 50 CBTs 49 patients, ranging age from 18 73 years. Three groups formed: group I 8 (16%) II 17 (34%) III 24 (49%). Post-surgical damage observed one patient (12.5%) I, six (35%) nine (37.5%) III. Vascular sacrifice had be performed 21% class 8.7% None required sacrifice. No statistically significant difference existed for or risk relation However, when analyzed proposed herein, there (P =0.001). There original Shamblin modified regarding bleeding. predicts only morbidity. Neurological is reflected it reflects surgeon's experience CBT resections. Surgical bleeding are directly related size blood vessels. must more so that international reports can accurately reflect it.
