摘要: Dried leaves of Cinnamomum tamala, also known as Indian bay leaves, are a lesser-known spice used in the subcontinent. It imparts warm, peppery, clove-cinnamon like flavor to variety food preparations. Besides applications, have been traditionally for curing number ailments and other perceived health benefits. They find mention Aurvedic, Yunani, traditional medicinal literature. This review summarizes effect tamala on biological systems such immune system, gastro-intestinal tract, liver its antioxidant, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antimicrobial activity. Chemical components that may be responsible well bioactivity, discussed.
