摘要: Finding a ‘dream mate’ is important for fitness in many sexually reproducing animals because half the genome of offspring will come from this mate. Individuals that choose their mates carefully may gain both direct benefits (i.e., good care, territories, and other resources) indirect (genes improve viability or attractiveness). Mate choices occur sexes same individuals can be choosy competitive. choice mating competition often result sexual selection evolution secondary characters. interactive, context dependent, operates on multiple traits, varies time space.
