摘要: Rationale, aims and objectives  Regular use of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) by health care providers in their routine practice may help to improve the quality care, but more evidence is needed before PROMs can be recommended. A structured review was undertaken examine whether how regular might practice. Methods  systematic search Medline accessed through Webspirs Silverplatter for years 1976–2004. Controlled trials English evaluating impact clinical on were included. Data regarding study design, characteristics feedback, patient populations results extracted three reviewers. Results  Feedback appears have a substantial some processes particularly diagnosis mental conditions. However, status less consistent. Most published studies evaluated as one-off screening technology measured only provider behaviours outcomes. Conclusions  The pattern suggests general lack clarity field, especially appropriate goals mechanisms which they achieve them. To fully evaluate role practice, need that capture issues importance patients measure impacts relating patient–provider relationship contributions well-being. Until means facilitate patient-centred full potential will remain unknown.
