摘要: Abstract Nitric oxide synthase is the biosynthetic enzyme for free radical neurotransmitter nitric oxide. Using an affinity-purified antiserum, was found to be localized peripheral ocular nerve fibers, related cranial ganglia, and retina of rat. In eye, synthase-like immunoreactive fibers were visualized mainly in choroid about limbal blood vessels. The anterior uvea quite sparsely innervated, cornea negative. Many principal neurons pterygopalatine ganglion while very few cells stained superior cervical trigeminal ganglia. Virtually all also immunostained vasoactive intestinal polypeptide; partially co-localized with neuropeptide Y some this ganglion. Pterygopalatine ganglionectomy significantly reduced number eye. A variety retinal seen. Most inner nuclear layer or cell corresponded morphologically amacrine displaced cells. Interplexiform occasional faintly outer portion visualized. Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate diaphorase histochemistry generally similar distribution but did reveal somewhat more extensive localizations tissues, ciliary ganglion, retina, compared immunohistochemistry. thus localizes chiefly parasympathetic nature derived from several types retina. probably acts as a choroidal vasodilator origin eye; co-localizations suggest complex neuromodulatory interactions. imply potential functions tissue.
