摘要: Evaluation of Ceratomyxa shasta and Parvicapsula minibicornis infection in returning adult Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) throughout the Klamath River Basin Ryan Slezak I examined incidence density to spawn Basin. From August 2007 through December 2007, 506 were sampled at various locations basin. Trophozoite myxospore life stages myxozoan parasites C. P. identified quantified using wet mount, histology, polymerase chain reaction. Chi-square tests used correlate any temporal or geographical patterns with density. Incidence for both pathogens peaked on October 25 samples collected from Iron Gate Hatchery. No clear trends seen Trinity carcasses Bogus Creek, Shasta River, mainstem found have significantly more myxospores than artificially spawned Hatcheries. Further research should focus exclusively naturallyspawned gain a better understanding timing frequency load
