摘要: Tetramethylene-1,4-bis(N,N-dodecylammonium bromide), cationic gemini surfactant, (12-4-12) was first synthesized with an one-step and shortened procedure its interfacial antimicrobial properties were compared a conventional single-chain cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). The thermodynamic of both surfactants reveal that critical micelle concentration (CMC) this novel synthetic dimeric surfactant is lower than monomeric at almost 15 times magnitude, which due to the increase in hydrophobicity molecules by having dual hydrocarbon chains. In comparison CTAB, produced compound 12-4-12 yields much better properties. activities tested against eight strains bacteria, as well two fungi. results showed CTAB exhibited higher inhibitory effects on growth Gram-positive bacteria fungi Gram-negative bacteria. minimum concentrations molar all those hypothetically HLB together smaller CMC values our surfactant.
