Deployment stressors and a chronic multisymptom illness among Gulf War veterans.

摘要: Unusual health problems have been reported by Gulf War (GW) veterans, but no single etiology has linked to these illnesses. This study was conducted determine the association between self-reported GW deployment stressors and an illness defined a combination of fatigue, mood-cognition, musculoskeletal symptoms. A total 1002 veterans from this cross-sectional survey four Air Force units completed self-administered questionnaire that asked about symptoms, demographic military characteristics, during deployment. Severe mild-moderate positively associated with self-reports pyridostigmine bromide use, insect repellent use belief in threat biological or chemical weapons. Injuries requiring medical attention were only severe illness. These results suggest link chemical, emotional, physical exposures, veterans' Further research is needed physiological psychological mechanisms through which such could contributed symptom complex.
