摘要: Porphyrins are a unique class of compounds widely present in nature. Due to their distinct chemical and photophysical properties they have variety applications, the most important being presented Fig. 1. Porphyrin chemistry applications undergone renaissance last years reflected 20 volumes recent comprehensive work giving an overview field (Kadish K.M et al., 2002). Despite impressive volume data, question about actual trends future involvement porphyrins biomedical is still hot topic as by number publications on photodynamic therapy (Fig.2). In decades great deal efforts from scientific community focused developing new therapeutic diagnosis approaches major diseases, like cancer infection. One dynamic fields investigation (PDT), which takes advantage controlled oxidative stress for destroying pathogens. This article aims at reviewing topics related engineering, PDT photodiagnosis (PDD). We do not intend provide exhaustive display comment porphyrinoid structures, huge papers reviews dealing with subject already been published. emphasize herein that also among promising candidates be used fluorescent near infrared (NIR) probes non-invasive this opens possibility perform simultaneously tumor imaging treatment same approach. It worth mentioning that, besides medical industrial analytical
