摘要: An instrument has been developed to study surface roughness by measuring the angular distributions of scattered light. In our instrument, a beam from He-Ne laser illuminates at an angle incidence which may be varied. The li,.ght'distribution is detected array 87 fiber optic sensors positioned in semicircular yoke can rotated about its axis so that radiation sampled over entire hemisphere. output detector digitized, stored, and analyzed laboratory computer. initial experiments have concentrated 'on measurements stainless steel surfaces are highly two-dimensional yield scattering localized plane incidence. results comparing data with theoretical computed digitized profiles measured stylus instrument. calculated substituting into operand integral equation for electromagnetic Beckmann Spizzichino. This approach directly tests accuracy basic optical theory.
