摘要: Prescribed burning is an important management tool for the restoration and maintenance of tallgrass prairies. To improve fire behaviour prediction in prairies, I assessed three different aspects - heat combustion, fuel load rate spread. Heat combustion was found to vary amongst certain species but relatively small differences means unlikely contribute significantly behaviour. Average loads Ontario prairie sites were be higher than current default value used prediction. Three rapid assessment techniques tested. Finally, predictions systems FBP System, BehavePlus Australian grassfire spread model, compared with actual observations. The System perform poorly while both model exhibited strong relationships between observed predicted rates
