摘要: Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) has been a rarely recognized condition in Asian populations, and its clinical manifestation is documented. Our aim was to describe clinically, endoscopically, pathologically the features of patients with esophageal eosinophilia, including EoE. Twelve histologically proven have eosinophilia were investigated. The histological diagnostic cutoff value defined as peak ≥15 eosinophils/high-power field (HPF) biopsies. Symptoms, endoscopic pathological findings, treatment outcome evaluated. Nine 12 male had mean age 47.7 years. Allergic conditions concurrent total 3 patients. Mild peripheral observed only 2 predominant symptom solid-food dysphagia, but some complained heartburn, or chest, epigastric, back pain. Three asymptomatic subjects also incidentally diagnosed during screening. Linear furrows, concentric rings, white exudates esophagus frequently observed. In 4 5 who administered proton pump inhibitor (PPI), decreased disappeared relief improvement. unresponsive PPI, topical steroid therapy, by swallowing fluticasone propionate, led symptomatic remission. recognition linear important diagnosis eosinophilic inflammation. subset this improves clinicopathologically PPI treatment, typical EoE, strictly unresponsiveness appears be rather rare condition.
