摘要: A square matrix of spots (A) was presented in rapid alternation with an uncorrelated (B). If the arrays are superimposed spatially one sees random incoherent motion. However, motion seen only if outer edges were exactly aligned. outline is shifted horizontally by 1 ° relation to B, then oscillate and fro. Surprisingly, all dots 'adhere' move (Ramachandran, 1981). We aligned again produce a sine-wave grating on pattern. moved 'adhered' it as well. This illusion ('motion capture') optimal (a) at 90° spatial phase shift grating; (b) low frequencies ( < 0.5 cycles); (c) when alternated step dot patterns. Density modulated gratings just effective. conclude that unambiguous signal derived from applied spontaneously
