摘要: Objective : This study examined psychiatric sequelae of traumatic brain injuries in outpatients and their relation to functional disability. Method Fifty consecutive with who came a injury rehabilitation clinic for initial evaluation were DSM-III-R diagnoses the use National Institute Mental Health Diagnostic Interview Schedule. The patients completed Medical Outcomes Study Survey assess disability questionnaire postconcussion symptoms self-perceptions severity cognitive functioning. Results Thirteen (26%) had current major depression, an additional 14 (2 8%) reported first-onset depressive episode after that resolved. Twelve (24%) generalized anxiety disorder, four (8%) substance abuse. group depression and/or was significantly more impaired than nondepressed/nonanxious according measures emotional role functioning, mental health, general health perceptions. depressed/anxious also rated as severe functioning worse, despite lack significant differences objective Mini-Mental State examination scores. depressed increasing over time.
