摘要: Members of the Bactevoider fragilis group anaerobes are most frequently encountered anaerobic pathogens in clinical infections. The traditional antimicrobial therapy has usually included metronidazole, to which, addition, many other groups susceptible [l]. In past, Bacteroides spp. have shown remarkable stability vitro activity metronidazole. Sporadic single case reports metronidazoleresistant been appearing literature since 1978 [2-81. these reports, resistant isolates were detected initially by absence a zone inhibition around 5-pg metronidazole disk on primary plate. Hence, it is conceivably correct assume that there could some degree under-reporting resistance busy routine laboratories, which use placed plate culture as an indication presence specimens. However, until now this phenomenon had posed little, if any, problem Kuwait [9]. Unfortunately, however, only few laboratories actually report specimens, and, moreover, being affluent country, antibiotic therapeutic options available choose from. As anticipated, high-level metronidazole-resistant strains with increased MICs for useful antianaerobic agents emerging. communication we five highly isolated fi-om three patients.
